Art Individual art classes support visual perceptual growth and eye motor coordination.

Typing

Typing for communication and graphic formulation development using the computer or fusion device implementation is offered to limited communicators. We see great promise with developing creative thinking and idea generation.

Language Based Learning and Literacy

With certain clients, based upon request, services are implemented after individualized goals are established.
Group Therapy

We know that children learn from children and we take advantage of that in our office. We also know fun generates motivation and motivation generates a support base for new learning. With this in mind, we are offering different groups. Group scheduling and availability is based upon age, peer fits and interest/needs.

--Communication--
We have groups to target articulation (sound production growth) and language content, comprehension and form (grammar, syntax, auditory processing).

--Chatting for Reciprocity--
Social groups, chat buddies and gaming groups are focused towards communication growth and peer interaction.

--Interactive Metronome for Pacing & Executive Function Skill Growth--
As we play, move, listen to music and cross mid-line with the scientifically based Interactive Metronome we see calming, focus improvement and ability to see through the screens of internal destructibility.

The Interactive Metronome

The Interactive Metronome (IM) is an innovative neuro-cognitive therapy tool used by our speech/language pathologist and certified providers to improve and develop the temporal processing that affects attention concentration, motor planning, sequencing, speech/language delays, and various other cognitive and learning disabilities. A scientifically based intervention, IM focuses on improving millisecond timing skills in the brain as well as natural reactions. This timing in the brain is critical to cognitive and auditory processing, reading fluency, learning skills, speech, and communication generation even benefiting professional athletes.
Interactive Metronome can be implemented with people of all ages with a wide variety of needs. Individualized planning determines the exact tasks, sequences, and paired skill (i.e.-speech, visuo-motor) modalities that are coupled with the interactive metronome. As individuals engage in fun and personalized bi-hemospheric exercises executive function skills have been noted to significantly improve.
Sharon Cohen
The new idea of this decade is that the brain can mold, change, and grow given the right stimulation in the right pattern at the right time. It stands to reason that focusing on developing neurological pathways through bi-hemispheric patterns, repetition and consistency will support growth in needed areas. It is time to look at individuals beyond the behavioral and educational domain and consider the role the brain has in fostering limitations.
Furthermore, IM is an engaging and rewarding therapy tool that can be completely customized to work with the individual's interests and needs. With the addition of interactive metronome therapy our clients have been demonstrating faster progress toward their individualized cognitive and commutative goals.
There is never a guarantee nor, a "one-fits-all intervention to improve communication or cognition. We believe that connecting and strengthening the specific areas of the brain which support receptive/expressive speech, attention and language function, as well as cognition is optimal to access growth in executive function skills, without which independence and building relationships is challenging. the results we are seeing are promising while the feedback from clients and families is motivating.
